Sedan is a former principality of the Ardennes metropolis which it now belongs to. The immense fortified castle is a relic of French history. It dominates the town.
The fortified castle and center of Sedan are very close to the site. The historic center has been labelled "a Site with a Remarkable Heritage". You can stroll through its streets past the Louis XV and Louis XVI style building façades, and stop off for some greenery at the botanical garden.
For a more energetic outing in nature, take a bike ride along the River Meuse (it runs through France Belgium and Holland). The Trans-Ardennes green way between Charleville and Sedan is suitable for cyclists of all abilities, and runs along the old towpath. Take your time, admire the forest, and breathe in the fresh air!
