Perfect for a stay in nature, this peaceful Walloon village is nestled in the Semois forest. Almost a hundred kilometers of hiking trails along the river or in the Ardenne forest are waiting for you! These trails are adapted to all levels, from a simple walk to a trail or mountain bike on the steep paths. It is also possible to rent a kayak to follow the river. Amongst all the hikes, discover a wooded area during the « Tombeau du Chevalier » loop following the old railway line for 8 km.
Located less than a kilometer from the site, do not miss the ruins of the medieval fortified castle classified as « Patrimoine Majeur de Wallonie » (Major Heritage Site of Wallonia). Admire an exceptional view on the meandering river from the castle tours. The former priory and the Conquès viaduct, extending more than 40 meters above the Semois, are other major elements of Herbeumont’s heritage.
25 kilometers from Herbeumont are the authentic ruins of the Orval abbaye, its dedicated museum and a medicinal plants garden.
Finally, visit the fortified castle of Bouillon, which overlooks the small city and its slate roofs bordering the Semois.
