Tourism / Discovery
Between Alès and Montélimar (50 km), Lagorce is a charming village perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by vineyards. It is the largest town in the Ardèche department.
Stroll through the narrow cobbled streets, vaulted passages and monuments of this authentic village. The 13th century belfry is the only vestige of the feudal castle dating from the Middle Ages. The history of the village is also recounted by visiting the church, the third to be built since the 16th century.
Take the time to discover the largest living silkworm farm at the Musée-Magnanerie. Learn more about this traditional know-how on a guided or self-tour (from May to September). We also recommend visiting the Melvita factory located in the countryside. A pioneering brand since 1983, discover the origin of its creation during your visit.
How about a moment in the middle of nature? The ‘’Sentier Botanique’’ is a trail that allows you to discover the surrounding environment thanks to numerous display boards. You will come across the chapel Notre-Dame-d’Adjude along the way. Reach the Dent de Rez a few kilometers further on, from where you can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the Rhône valley. Walk along the Ibie and its valley to admire waterfalls, turquoise waters, shingle beaches and Mediterranean vegetation.
When the summer weather returns, go to Vallon-Pont-d’Arc to enjoy the riverside and its activities: swimming, canoeing, boating… The famous Pont d’Arc (large natural bridge) and the Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc Cave make it an absolute must-see destination during a stay in the Ardèche.
