Tourism / Discovery
On the road to your holiday destination, between Nantes (29 km) and Pornic (24 km), Rouans is located near the southern bank of the Loire estuary. The marshes give you access to a vast green setting, between land and sea, with a remarkable fauna and flora.
As for walks, you can easily reach the banks of the Acheneau, a peaceful river that joins the Buzay canal.
Little anecdote: the movie « Le Grand Chemin » directed by Jean-Loup Hubert, was shot in Rouans in 1987. It gave its name to a hiking trail: the Grand Chemin trail (23 km), passing in front of the campsite. Follow this route and discover the hillsides of Rouans and its natural environment.
A few monuments show the heritage of this commune in the Pays de Retz: the Buzay Tower, vestige of the Cistercian abbey (12th century), the former presbytery (18th century) or the Saint-Martin church and its neo-gothic style (20th century).
If you want to visit Nantes, a bus passes through the city centre and takes you there in 30 minutes.
