Tourism / Discovery
The mountain village of Matemale is known as "Little Canada". It is at an altitude of 1500 m in the heart of the Capcir in the Oriental Pyrenees. Here you will find a true mix of Catalan tradition and authenticity, and a rich unspoilt environment.
In winter, cross country skiing is king here because of the proximity to ski stations. Nordic walking trails, well maintained marked slopes, hiking trails for skis or snow shoes, beautiful scenery... there's something for everyone.
In summer, the Matte Royal Forest of pine tree shrouds the lake. It becomes the perfect relaxation spot. The lakeside beach is supervised and lots of nature activties are on offer: a tree-top adventure course, golf, bike rental, children's games, picnic areas...
This dynamic village and its inhabitants have developed a gentle, sustainable form of tourism; It's great place for the whole family to enjoy!
