Tourism / Discovery
Welcome to Pouillon, about 15 km south of Dax. This quiet and flowery village is a great stopover on the way to the coast. Have a stay in the Landes Chalosse, 40 km from Bayonne, Hossegor and Capbreton.
Visit the Alfred-Longuefosse bullrings where the famous ‘courses landaises’ are held, including the ‘Printemps Taurin’ (end of May) and the summer ones (August).
Reach Lake Luc and its nautical base 3 km from the campsite. Enjoy a bucolic stroll (tour of the lake: 1,3 km) and diverse activities for the whole family: miniature golf, pedalo, fishing, boules, tennis and a playground for children.
‘La petite ferme de Pouillon’ is an educational farm located in the village where you will find rabbits, pigs, donkeys, goats and other animals for a quiet moment in nature.
The Landes Chalosse are made up of green and hilly countryside and are much appreciated for their good addresses and culinary specialities such as the ‘Foie Gras’, part of the French culinary heritage. Among other specialities, discover the Chalosse beef, the Floc de Gascogne (aperitif), farm poultry of the Landes… an ideal place for the hedonists!
About 15 km from Pouillon, the abbey of Sorde is a must-see. Built at the end of the 10th century, it is now listed as a National Heritage Site and also a World Heritage Site together with the paths to Santiago de Compostela in France.
