Ormoy-la-Rivière is located south of the Parisian region, just 3 km from Étampes. The village boasts a rich natural environment, which you can discover during your walks starting from the church: - Artondu: 5 km - Vauvert: 4.2 km - Artondu: Vauvert 8.2 km - Les Grès: 4.2 km - Le Topineau: 4.2 km From Étampes TER train station, you can walk along "le Sentier des Plateaux", a 13.2 km trail. Finally, a pretty cycle path built on an old railway line gives you the chance to discover the 35 km "Chalouette Valley" trail. Go to the Saint-Martin neighbourhood to head towards Saint-Hilaire. Just 5 minutes from Ormoy is the lively, cultural town of Étampes, with its many heritage sites. The local history of Étampes has become part of the great history of France! Legend has it that it was while passing in front of the sculpture of Christ that the fanatical François Ravaillac decided to murder King Henri IV of France in 1610. This statue is now kept in the intercommunal museum of the royal city, which also exhibits a large collection of archaeology, fossils and paintings by local artists. Nestled in a lush green park, the “Île de Loisirs” offers a host of activities for everyone, both free and supervised: tree climbing, sledging, zip-lining, ice rink, escape game... There's also a swimming area with several pools. From April to October, come and enjoy yourself in this friendly and recreational environment. Unique in the region, the Italian-style theatre in Étampes hosts a great variety of performances: films, concerts, operettas, plays, etc. This site has been listed as a National Heritage site since 1982. There are other monuments well worth a visit: the collegiate church of Notre-Dame du Fort, the Tour de Guinette (the castle's former keep), the fresco at the courthouse, the church of Saint-Gilles and many more...
