Tourism / Discovery
Chambon-sur-Lac is located 40 km south of Clermont-Ferrand, in the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park.
This family destination is distinguished by its remarkable natural environment, particularly thanks to the Chambon Lake (Blue Flag) and its outdoor activities centre (open from mid-May to the end of September). Many activities are available: swimming, pedal boats, canoeing, paddling, inflatable structures and fishing. For beautiful walks, follow the path around the lake.
For hiking lovers, there are many trails to discover the surroundings of Chambon and the Auvergne volcanoes. For example, explore the Dent du Marais, a rocky peak overlooking the lake from a height of over 940 m. You can also follow a path leading to the Col de la Croix Saint Robert, the highest in the Massif du Sancy (1451 m). As for the Col de la Croix Morand, it culminates at 1401 m and has been an important stage for the Tour de France on several occasions.
There are also several waterfalls hidden among these peaks: the Voissière waterfall, the Biche or the Pérouse.
Another place to visit: the Vestiges of Varennes. This is a protected site highlighting its history dating back to 471 AD.
