Olargues is a French municipality located in the Hérault department in Occitanie. It is part of the Regional Nature Reserve of Haut-Languedoc. This village is listed among the most beautiful towns in France.

The CAMPING-CAR PARK stopover site of Olargues is located near the village centre. Shops and services are accessible on foot.

The "Voie Verte"(greenway) is set not far from there, on the old railway Mazamet/Bédarieux. It offers a protected area for cycling, jogging and hiking of approximately 75 kilometers long.

Olargues is a hilltop village in Haut-Languedoc featuring the Mont Caroux in the background. It clings to a rocky mound where you can see the old keep of the medieval castle now converted into a bell-tower. Downhill, the Pont du Diable (Devil's Bridge) was built in XII century. The place's interesting architecture and its typically medieval aspect helped Olargues to be listed among the places registered in the "Inventaire National des Sites".

  • Visit the museum of "Arts et Traditions Populaires" (museum of folk arts and traditions) located in the village centre, in the famous "Commanderie Stairs" (street-stairs), above the Saint-Etienne Chapel.
  • A hiking trail marked out at the beginning of Olargues (PR Malviès) allows you to discover "Peyro Escrito" (prehistoric stone engravings), which is a listed historic building.

In the neighborhood: go check the Gorges d'Heric, exceptional natural site!
Stroll along the stream and discover several waterfalls and chasms.
The Gorges d'Heric is also a swimming place (not supervised). Enjoy a beautiful day refreshing yourself in its natural pools.
Reach the charming hamlet of Héric, with its typical local architecture, narrow streets, terraces and small stone-built houses which roofs are covered by slate stones and chestnut wood structure.

Only lovely days to expect here!
