Near Saint Emilion (7Km), Bordeaux (30Km), Blaye (50Km) and 1 hour from Bassin d’Arcachon, Libourne is the perfect place to travel and discover the Gironde and Dordogne, the UNESCO triangle!

Founded in 1270, Libourne is an English walled harbour town located at the confluence of the Isle River and the Dordogne River. Its prosperity comes mainly from the wine trade but also wood and salt. Its rich heritage brought charm to this city, in particular its central square surrounded by arcades, its town hall from XV century, its docks… lets not forget its wonderful farmers market on the central square three times a week for 600 years, it is one of the most prestigious of the region!
A special place on the right bank of Bordeaux, Libourne is undoubtedly the only city in the world that has two prestigious wine types on its urban territory: Pomerol and Saint-Emilion.

We were here for 2 nights in March 2018 to break the journey north from Biarritz. It is a good site for walking and cycling as you overlook the lake with its many pathways. Children are also well catered for as there is a large play area just outside the Aire.
There is a Buffalo Grill and Grand Cafe du Lac a few yards away and the bus into Libourne stops at the gate of the Aire.
