 LE CROTOY

The small fishig village of Le Crotoy is an emblematic seaside resort in the Bay of the Somme.

Fishermen's houses and holiday homes are mixed together. The sandy beach is the only South facing beach in the North!

Jules Verne, Guerlain, and Colette all lived here, and were inspired by the stunning light around the Bay.

The main market takes place every Friday morning, on Jeanne d'Arc Square and along the Courbet Quayside. The Fish Hall takes place on Saturday mornings : fishermen sell their catch directly on little stalls opposite the fishing port.

Stay on the main road! The GPS can lead you down some bumpy roads that are unnecessary as the entrance to the Camping car site is on the entrance to a large camp site ON THE MAIN ROAD. The barrier to the Camping Car Site is a little tight and the pitches are also quite tight to get in to. Satalite reception can be difficult due to a large hedge. The fresh water tap is very slow. The site seems to be some way off the town and the main road is busy and noisy. There does not appear to be a path along the road. There does not appear to be any local shops and the large campsite next door has big electric gates. Not sure if the camp site hasa shop or would be willing to allow access for bread etc. Probably only worth visiting as an overnight stop.

It is what it is. Located close to the main road (D940) at Tarteron just outside of Le Crotoy., so there is road noise. The pitches are set in pairs hard standing with a grassed area in between and hedged. It is a bit tight to manoeuvre a 7.5m motorhome! A traditional style service point with fresh water, grey water disposal and toilet cassette emptying and flushing facility. Most pitches have electric hook up the one on the right immediately by the entrance does not. There are recycling facilities close by and a car park which was useful as we were towing a car.
The two camping car aires in Le Crotoy the large one by the port and the other one by the beach both charge €7 per night and there is one service point which is charged extra for water and electric – only two hook up points so the Camping-Car Park wins hands down for me.
Likes: services and electric hook up (6 amp), hedges between pairs of pitches, rate €10.08 – reflecting some of the minus points of the location
Dislike: Road noise, remoteness from Le Crotoy, difficulty for manoeuvring

Disappointing first time on Camping cars site ,had booked ,but found instructions very difficult, although you pay booking fee can see nothing that had reserved pitch .Site right next to noisy busy road and nothing apart from static site around .Nothing to walk to .
Now has enough electric points for number of vans ,although only 6 volt .
Moving on hopefully into Le Crotoy
